The Effects of Nutrient Factors on the Response of Peas to Gibberellic Acid

JANET I. SPRENT

Goldsmiths' College London

The extent to which gibberellic acid (GA) stimulated internode extension and depressed leaf growth was found to be greatest when nutrient supplies were low. Node of first flower was independently affected by GA (increased) and by nutrient (decreased). Developing flowers varied in their sensitivity to GA, aborting when given GA at about four plastochrons of age.
