Understanding flowers and flowering provides a very useful and up-to-date review of floral biology. Its aim is to integrate recent molecular and genetic data with an evolutionary and ecological perspective, much of which is very much older. In this it succeeds admirably, although in the process it comes to no firm conclusions and establishes quite clearly that there is much more to be known.
