Electrophysiological tracking of ion flux patterns in leaves

Variations in leaf venation in Vicia faba are shown by Shabala et al. (pp. 221-226) to influence ion flux profiles visualized using nondestructive microelectrode ion flux estimation. Quasi-periodical patterns of net ion fluxes correlate well with anatomical features of mesophyll tissue scanned to a resolution of 0.1-0.2 mm.
