Plantmicrobe interaction and bacterial quorum sensing

Many plant-associated bacteria use small signalling molecules to regulate their behaviour according to their population density. Transgenic plants have been made by R. G. Fray (pp. 245-253) which interfere with this inter-bacterial communication. They show strongly altered plant-microbe interactions. However, it appears that similar strategies may have evolved naturally in the plant kingdom.
