Alnus-cardamom plantations in Himalaya: productivity, energetics and efficiencies

Large cardamom is the most important perennial cash crop in eastern Himalaya, cultivated predominantly under Alnus trees. Sharma et al. (pp. 261-272) examine the performance of large cardamom under the influence of N2-fixing Alnus. They suggest that the beneficial association can last 20 years, and longer if replanting is undertaken.
