Alnus-cardamom plantations in Himalaya: nutrient dynamics

Impact of stand age on the nutrient dynamics, nutrient use efficiency and nitrogen accretion of mixtures of N2-fixing Alnus and non-N2-fixing large cardamom plants are assessed by Sharma et al. (pp. 273-282). Nitrogen fixation and nutrient use efficiency are higher in younger stands and decrease over 15-20 years. A rotational cycle of 15 to 20 years is proposed.
