Cover illustration: The inset cover photograph shows xylem connections between the tubercle of the parasitic plant Orobanche aegyptiaca and its host Arabidopsis thaliana. The curved orientation towards the host shoot is influenced by an auxin gradient generated by O. aegyptiaca acting as an auxin sink. Disrupting such gradients interferes with the successful vascular connectivity between host and parasite. See Bar-Nun et al. (pp. 261-265).
