Cover illustration: The inset cover image shows the projection of a 3-D virtual coconut stand on the ground with colour coding to indicate the number of superimposed plant elements. Such projections simulate the shadow cast on soil. They are also used in ARCHIMED software for mapping the interception of incident light by plant elements and the exchange of scattered light between superimposed plant elements. See Dauzat et al.
