About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover illustration: The inset cover photograph shows the beetle Oxythyrea funesta visiting a flower of Carpobrotus affine acinaciformis. This plant is an invasive species in a Mediterranean coastal shrubland and shares pollinators with co-flowering native plants. On average, 23% of the pollen found on the bodies of pollinators visiting native plants is from the invasive species; however, although this pollen is also found on the stigmas of the native plants, it is present in only very low quantities. See Bartomeus et al. (pp. 417-424).
