Cover illustration: Jasmonates regulate diverse processes in plants, including response to wounding and pathogens, pollen development and root growth. COI1 is required for these responses to jasmonate in arabidopsis, and it associates with SKP1 and CULLIN proteins to form a ubiquitin ligase. This suggests that in response to a jasmonate signal, COI1 selectively recruits target proteins (R) for ubiquitination. The target proteins may therefore function as repressors of jasmonate responses. See Devoto and Turner, pp. 329–337.
