Cover illustration: The cover image is a scanning electron micrograph of a hermaphrodite olive flower prior to bloom. Analysis of resource allocation and male function for hermaphrodite and staminate olive flowers indicates male function in staminate flowers is not negatively affected by factors that lead to pistil abortion. Andromonoecy in olive appears to serve as a mechanism for increasing pollen production at the plant level. See Cuevas and Polito, pp. 547–553.
