About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover illustration: The Amazon water lily Victoria amazonica near the Rupununi River, central Guyana. The white flower opens in the evening and warms in association with the arrival of pollen-bearing scarab beetles. Seymour and Matthews (pp. 1129–1135) describe the pattern of warming and show that the flower produces the preferred body temperatures for the beetles during their nocturnal activities inside the floral chamber.
